Library

Our library was established to support the educational, teaching, and research activities of our university; to meet the information and document needs of academic staff, students, employees, and researchers; and to contribute to the accumulation, use, and transfer of knowledge at national and international levels. Starting its operations in 2008 in the Ağdacı Campus library building with an area of 656 m², following the transfer of 3,645 books from the Faculty of Forestry and Bartın Vocational School, our library moved to its new 10,600 m² building at Kutlubey Campus in 2023 and continues to provide services there.

The library building located at Bartın University Kutlubey Campus is one of the largest university libraries in Turkey. Built on a 10,600 square meter area, it is among the university libraries with the largest usable space within a single building.

The library offers a comfortable and high-quality working environment for researchers. It includes general collections, periodicals, reference sources, newspapers, rare works, and non-book materials sections, as well as individual and group study rooms. Our library has a total of 24 Individual Study Rooms (12 in Hall 3A and 12 in Hall 3B). Additionally, there are 12 Group Study Rooms in total, including 6 rooms for 4 people and 6 rooms for 6 people in each hall. The building also includes internet rooms, meeting rooms, a conference hall, and exhibition areas.

To ensure maximum benefit for our students and researchers, a comfortable study environment has been created, and the library operates 24/7. In this context, membership agreements have been established with major consortia and institutions such as ANKOS and TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM, providing access to numerous databases. Furthermore, collaborations are maintained with public and private universities as well as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

To log into the system and access e-books, users must register with their institutional email address (@bartin.edu.tr for staff and @ogrenci.bartin.edu.tr for students).

All academic outputs produced within Bartın University, including books, articles, theses, papers, and reports, are stored digitally in accordance with international standards and made available through Open Access in compliance with copyright regulations, thereby increasing their impact.

Since its establishment, our library has organized and made available information resources—acquired through purchases and subscriptions—in accordance with library standards as quickly as possible, ensuring that students and researchers can access up-to-date information efficiently. In this context, a total of 1,990,833.91 TRY was spent in 2022, and 3,958,662.37 TRY in 2023 for printed and electronic books as well as database subscriptions.
